Annealing the copper (heating it until it glows) softens the metal and makes it easier to work with.
Using a burr to make a grass like texture on the copper.
I use a jewelers saw to cut shapes out of my copper. In the video below, you'll see me drilling holes in the copper. After that, I thread the saw blade through the hole and saw out the shape, as seen in the other video.
